FAQ

The questions owners ask. Answered straight.

Everything we get asked before a shop signs on — setup, plans, the customer card, Québec's rules and gift cards — answered the way we'd answer across the counter.

Getting started

A tablet, a week, and you're live

What it actually takes to go from a demo call to a working program at your counter.

What hardware do I need?

A tablet or a phone at the counter — that's the whole list. Its camera scans member cards, so there are no scanners, no card readers and no proprietary hardware to buy or rent.

How long does setup take?

Most shops go live within a week: one setup call, your branding applied, your rewards configured and your team shown the counter app. Nothing gets installed on your register.

Does Perkaria integrate with my POS?

No — and that's by design. Perkaria runs on a tablet alongside any register, including ones with no API at all. Staff record stamps, points and gift cards in a couple of taps, and every night Perkaria reconciles the day against the sales export your POS already produces. There is no integration project, ever.

How do customers join?

At the counter, in about ten seconds: they give their phone number, your staff enrol them on the tablet, and a text message puts their card on their phone. No app to download, no form to fill out, no password to invent.

Pricing & plans

What it costs, in plain dollars

Three plans in Canadian dollars — and honest answers about what happens when things change.

What do the plans cost?

Starter is $49 a month, Growth is $99 and Pro is $199 — launch pricing in Canadian dollars, taxes extra, with roughly two months free when you pay annually. Growth adds gift cards, campaigns, analytics and the review funnel; Pro covers up to three locations, more on request.

Can I change plans later?

Yes — upgrade or downgrade anytime, and the change applies to your next billing cycle. No penalty, no renegotiation.

Is there a setup fee?

No. Setup, your branding and your first QR codes are included on every plan.

Do you offer a free trial?

We do something more useful: a live demo with your brand already applied, then pilot terms for your first weeks if it's a fit. You see the real thing before you commit — ask us during the call.

We have more than three locations. Can Perkaria handle us?

The Pro plan covers up to three locations, more on request. Past that, we'd rather look at your situation together than promise a number on a web page — book a demo and we'll tell you exactly where we stand.

Customers & wallet

The card your customers keep

The card lives in the phone's browser, not an app store — here's what that means in practice.

Do my customers need to download an app?

No. The card runs in the browser and can be added to the home screen, where it behaves like an app — your icon, full screen, their stamps and points. Nobody has to visit an app store to join your program.

How do customers sign in? Is there a password?

There are no passwords, on purpose. Members get a magic link by text: one tap opens their card. A password is one more thing to forget, and forgotten passwords are how loyalty programs quietly die.

Can customers sign themselves up from a QR code on the table?

No, and that's deliberate. Enrolment is a staff action on the counter tablet: it takes seconds, consent is collected in person rather than through a box tapped past, and it keeps junk numbers out of your list.

What if a customer gets a new phone or clears their browser?

Nothing is lost. The card lives on our servers, not on the device — stamps, points, tier and gift-card balance are attached to the account. They ask for a fresh link by text and everything opens on the new phone.

Does the card work in French and English?

Yes — French first, English one tap away. Same card, same balance, in the language each customer prefers.

Compliance & privacy

Québec's rules, on by default

Built here, for the rules that apply here — Law 25, CASL and consumer protection are defaults, not add-ons.

Is Perkaria compliant with Québec regulations?

Yes — it's built here, for these rules. Law 25 privacy rights, CASL consent, a French-first customer experience and gift cards that never expire are all defaults in the product, not options you have to remember to turn on.

How does Perkaria keep marketing messages inside the rules?

The platform enforces them, so a busy week can't break them: messages go only to people who opted in, quiet hours from 9 pm to 9 am are automatic, no member receives more than two marketing messages a week, and every message identifies your business with an unsubscribe that works.

What happens when someone replies STOP?

They're out immediately — the reply is honoured the moment it arrives, in French (ARRET) or English (STOP), and no further marketing goes to that number. They keep their stamps, points and gift-card balance; they just stop hearing from you.

What happens to my data if I leave?

You can export your full member list and history at any time — including on your way out. It's your data, and leaving doesn't change that.

Gift cards

Money now, visits later

Digital gift cards, sold at your counter, that follow Québec law by construction.

Do gift cards expire?

Never — and there's no way to make them. Québec's Consumer Protection Act prohibits expiry dates and dormancy fees on gift cards, so the product has no expiry field at all. A $50 card is worth $50 until someone spends it.

How do gift cards work with my register?

Your register takes the money; Perkaria tracks the card. Staff issue a digital card from the counter tablet in two taps, payment goes through the POS you already use, and the nightly reconciliation against your sales export keeps the books honest. No integration needed.

Can customers check a balance without calling us?

Yes. Every card has a public balance page: type the code, see what's left — no account, no password, in French or English. Members also see the balance right on their wallet card.

Which plans include gift cards, and do they work across locations?

Gift cards come with Growth and Pro. On Pro, balances are shared across your locations — up to three, more on request — so a card sold at one counter can be spent at another.
